Description
A Bucket Elevator is a vertically oriented material handling equipment designed to transport bulk solid fuels such as coal, biomass briquettes, wood chips, husk, or pellets to boiler and heater feeding systems efficiently and continuously. It operates by using a series of buckets attached to a rotating belt or chain that scoops up the fuel at the bottom inlet, elevates it vertically, and discharges it at the desired height into hoppers, bunkers, or direct feeding lines of boilers and heaters. In fuel handling systems, bucket elevators play a crucial role by ensuring steady, controlled, and dust-minimized transfer of fuel , especially when large volumes must be moved over vertical distances. Compared to screw conveyors or pneumatic systems, bucket elevators are particularly advantageous in terms of energy efficiency, compact footprint, and ability to handle abrasive or irregular fuel particles without excessive wear. The equipment is built with robust structural frames, heavy-duty buckets, and wear-resistant components to withstand the demanding boiler environment. Bucket elevators can be custom-designed to suit specific fuel characteristics, boiler feed requirements, and site constraints. Additionally, advanced models integrate self-cleaning features, explosion vents, fire-resistant belts, and sensors for smooth, safe, and reliable operation. Centrifugal Discharge Bucket Elevator – suitable for light, free-flowing fuels like rice husk & pellets. Continuous Discharge Bucket Elevator – ideal for fragile or abrasive fuels like coal & biomass briquettes. Main Components : Head Section – includes head pulley, discharge chute, and bearing housing. Boot Section – equipped with boot pulley, tensioning system, and fuel inlet. Casing – fabricated mild steel or reinforced construction for dust-tight operation. Buckets – fabricated from mild steel, stainless steel, or polymer, depending on fuel type and wear resistance. Drive System – geared motor or coupled with reduction gearbox for high efficiency. Belt/Chain – heavy-duty rubber belt with steel reinforcement or alloy chain for durability.
